Project Overview

Tyresonline. ae is a localized online marketplace that makes buying and fitting tires in the Emirates simple for consumers. The users are able to search for the tires on the website by entering their vehicle details or tire size which makes it easy to choose them. This helps ensure that customers only see tires appropriate for their vehicle. When users choose the required tire, they just need to add it to their cart and complete the purchase.

Challenges

The majority of the Magento modules are paid.
Mostly every module is developed in a particular PHP version which may differ from the running PHP version at Magento leading to multiple errors.
Magento creates extremely huge log files, some of them are in GBs.
Newly introduced modules may clash with old ones.
Sparkminds do not have solid documentation and community support, so it is challenging to find solutions on the Internet.
Redeploying when modules are updated or CSS looks different, causes temporary downtime.
A Magento theme is updated but a user may not reflect that at once.
Certain theme errors may not show in the logs and lead to certain sections not rendering.
Updating Magento themes can be challenging because UI changes must be compatible with existing modules.

Solutions

Prebuilt modules — this means developers have to create new modules; thus, customized code for specific needs so that we do not have to pay for expensive off-the-shelf modules.
Upgrade modules that are not commonly used to the latest PHP syntax.
Remove log files from time to time and avail some space.
Clone the server to a local environment and test features before deploying to production to avoid conflicts.
Follow the chain of events leading up to the error and debug it so that we can identify the source.
Schedule deploys outside of peak hours (e.g. 8 – 11 am)
Clean flush caches in order to change a theme directly.
Enable Developer Mode to diagnose errors. It must be performed when the traffic is low, or in a test staging environment so that active users are not affected.
Like with new modules, test the theme in a local or staging environment before deploying it to production to avoid errors.
